Gordon State College Offers Affordable SAT/ACT Prep Workshops

McDonough Center Site for College Test Preparation

Students preparing to take college entrance exams now have an affordable option through
Gordon State College’s Community Education Department. The eight-hour math workshop,
open to the public, prepares students for a variety of common problems on the math sections

The fall workshop includes a total of four classes at Gordon State College at McDonough Center
will be held on October 14, 15, 21 and 22 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The cost is $79 per student. The
teacher for the course, Joan Prisk, has worked in secondary education for 24 years and holds a
bachelor’s and a master’s degree in mathematics education from Georgia State University.


“College entrance exams are standardized aptitude tests used to evaluate students for college
admissions purposes,” according to University of the People (UoPeople). “Once deciding which
universities the student plans on applying to it is important to check the admissions
requirements to figure out which college entrance exams are required by the school as well as

Gordon State College requires students to earn a minimum new SAT score of 19 Critical Reading
and 18/360 Math or minimum ACT scores of 12 English and 14 Math. Students must meet the
required Freshman Index. The Freshman Index is calculated using a student’s High School GPA
and his or her highest SAT or ACT scores. GSC’s application deadline for the spring semester is
December 1, 2019.

一道本不卡免费高清The Dual Enrollment program at Gordon State College provides an opportunity for academically-accelerated high school sophomores, juniors and seniors to take college courses to satisfy their remaining high school requirements. Dual Enrollment admissions for Gordon State College include a minimum 3.0 GPA in the required high school curriculum, minimum SAT critical reading 24 and Math 470 or minimum English ACT score must be 17 and ACT Math score must be 18. Accuplacer is also offered and the scores can also be used for admissions. Tuition is completely funded by Georgia Student Finance Commission for Dual Enrollment participants and all mandatory fees are waived, however if there are any course fees (Science/Lab Fees), the student is responsible for paying the additional fees. Students who participate in Dual Enrollment can be part-time and take one or two classes, or students can be full-time and take a full college semester load. Dual Enrollment students can participate in college activities as well. They are eligible to use the SARC, tutoring on campus, library, etc.
