That experience should be beneficial to engage all our alumni who have attended this unique and special institution.”

Argo spearheaded a Parent Leadership Council at GCSU and also worked closely with the College of Business Dean’s Parent Advisory Council. Both programs generated support for the University and created parent involvement in University outreach.

Argo has spent more than 25 years of his career in college athletics administration and eventually became involved in higher education fundraising, which led to his interest in Gordon State College.

“I have worked with four-year and two-year institutions during my career, including public and private schools of all sizes,” Argo said. “So when I saw the opportunity at Gordon State College, I had the belief that my experience would serve the institution well.”

Argo is a native of Athens, Ga., and graduated from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Science in Education. He and his wife, Jane, are parents to three grown sons, Chase, Collin and Cam and one grandson, Isom Chase, born last November.

“We are excited that Steve will be joining our team. Steve’s past experience in higher education fundraising will be beneficial in securing major gift support for Gordon State College as we work toward achieving our fundraising goals,” said Montrese Adger Fuller, vice president for Institutional Advancement.
